Hi All,
I hope you’re enjoying the new blog layout. I know things look a little different, but doesn’t it just feel so much cleaner? The front page looks quite a bit different than you may be used to but if you hop on over to THIS page (you can also get there by clicking on “blog”) everything is just exactly where it was before!
Alright, onto today’s post. I’ve talked about it a little bit before but I’m a huge, huge fan of stations and circuits. Mary Lee Tracy put up a couple awesome videos for stations for giants and cast handstands today, and I wanted to share them but I also wanted to talk a little bit about how you might use them.
If you have a group that doesn’t really need individual assignments (or you are ALL working these skills) – combining these two videos into an 8 station circuit would be a great idea. If you don’t have enough bars for that you can take out a couple on the bar stations and create something that drills similar techniques on the floor. In order to try to get more turns out of your gymnasts (a necessity on bars) – you could try a couple things. 1) They have to go around the circuit 3 times in a certain time period (this makes them feel pressured for time and they stop dawdling between turns) 2) They have to take x number of turns before rechalking. 3) Only one person on a station at a time (this decreases talking).
Train hard!

What are you using to keep the ball stationary for the HS bounce drill? Our old HS bouncer station has become a little to cumbersome for our space.

Hi Bill,
They’re using this: http://www.beavergymproducts.com/girls_trainer.html . It holds the ball but also has a bar attached.
