Are you doing enough flex?

Hi All,

Quick post today as I am at the Houston National Invitational and having a fantastic time. I will do a post about it shortly, but I have to say seeing so much gymnastics in one place…well it’s kind of my version of heaven. So lets get to today’s post. The title says it all. Are you doing enough flexibility training? My general answer to ALMOST anyone is no. Really it’s a rarity that I would say yes. So today I’m going to share a few videos that may inspire you to do some more.

Drills for sissones

This first one is of some ideas for active flexibility. Making sure that your flexibility regimen contains both active and passive flex is incredibly important. If you are missing one of the two (or both) you will not be successful. T

This second video is of some partner stretching that while maybe not necessary to add into EVERY workout is worth adding in a couple days a week. This is one of those things where you will where you can see drastic changes if it is done correctly.

I love doing flexibility on stall bars and these are a few really good drills from Tammy Biggs. These stretches can often get deeper and more intense than normal stretching on the floor. Make sure they have a partner when they start doing them to make sure they are in the correct position.

Train hard!

Hi there! I’m a coach from a gymnastics club in New Brunswick, Canada. I am subscribed to your YouTube channel and I love all your posts! I really want to thank you for taking the time to post daily on this blog; it helps my athletes immensely! I’m seeing lots of drills with bands for active flexibility and I really want to do those, but first I need to find some of those bands! Do you know where I could get my hands on some? I travel to the States a lot so I’d be able to get some there or order some online! Thanks in advance for your response! You rock, Zari! 🙂
