All different ways

Hi All,

Today I’m going to talk a little bit about back series on beam. Gymnasts often get..well, weird about back series. “I wont tumble that way,” “I don’t want to series on that beam,” “I need my particular way of warming up and only that way.” The only thing I can say to combat this is make them do it ALL DIFFERENT WAYS. And not every once in a while. ALL THE TIME. Say you have to make your series once on every beam. Or do a group warm-up and have them throw their series without doing “their” warm-up. It will make your athletes more versatile.

This first video is of just a simple series starting off the beam, finishing on the beam. I also have kids doing series on the beam finishing off the beam. Build confidence and versatility in all of the directions.

This second video is just of a simple handstand to lock adding a jump and landing in a lunge. Adding these, along with regular handstands to lock, and jumps to lunge, and handstands to jump and land in a plie etc. Have your kids do ALL of them.
